New County Jail

Once again proposed Kenton jail faces opposition

A new jail going up a half mile north of our subdivision. There is a lot of community opposition, of course. I'm still trying to evaluate weather this is a negative thing, or not. It's definitely bad for our friend Lloyd Brueckner since the jail will essentially be in his back yard.

(Note: [July-2008] Since I made this original post, the new jail location was defeated. I am grateful to Fiscal Court Judge, Ralph Drees, and the Kenton County Commission for being big enough to work with the citizens of Independence, KY to secure a new jail site that is equally distanced and equally isolated from the surrounding communities – and closer to the Covington Court House.)
